The diagnosis of SARS CoV2 is usually performed by real-time PCR (RT-PCR), which determines the viral load of the so-called cycle threshold (CT).
Cycle threshold (CT) refers to the number of cycles in an RT-PCR assay required to amplify viral RNA to reach a detectable level.
These parameters are a great help because both the Canary Health Service, to which the data is reported, and the patient and doctors can assess how contagious the patient is who has eventually tested positive.
